As an industry-focussed centre of research and innovation excellence, the Centre’s research program framework placed an emphasis on applied research. The research program was expected to generate commercially valuable outcomes and commercial-ready intellectual property (IP) as a core asset. The effective commercialisation of IP is fundamental to realising benefits to Centre stakeholders, and therefore significant attention was dedicated to this activity.
Commercialisation Advisory Committee
The Centre’s Commercialisation Advisory Committee provided high level advice on commercialisation strategy and potential developments to the CEO and the Commercialisation Manager. However, all financial decisions remained with the Board and the Board had final approval of any commercialisation strategy.
The Centre’s Commercialisation Manager reported progress to the Commercialisation Advisory Committee on IP management, identification of projects with commercial potential, negotiations with strategic partners, and the development of commercialisation plans.
