Water-purifying oil magnets developed by PhD scholarship winner

NCEDA-funded PhD research at the University of South Australia has developed hydrophobic adsorbents which remove crude oil from fresh and seawater. Behnam Akhavan, a PhD scholar at UniSA’s School of Engineering and Mawson Institute, completed the groundbreaking research supported by a supplementary Centre scholarship of $30,000 over three years.
