New Honorary Professor at Murdoch University David Furukawa told IDA World Congress delegates that the Centre of Excellence in Desalination Australia now had support from 54 generous industry partners in addition to its consortium of 13 universities and CSIRO. This has enabled the Centre to leverage a total of $31.8 million for its 33 research projects from initial $9.6 million funding from government, he said.
Professor Furukawa explained that the Centre had encouraged international collaboration to boost Australia’s desalination industry and was working with organisations including Dow, UCI, Siemens, Memsys, the University of Texas and Yale University in the US, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Korea University, and Veolia Water.
Valoriza Water Australia and Osmoflo had become the Centre’s first gold sponsors.
